Your pathway to breeding a pure Holstein herd

The Appendix Register enables the breeder to advance the offspring of quality grade Holstein cows to pedigree status over five generations of controlled breeding to registered Holstein sires.

Appendix 5

• Any correctly marked black and white female of unknown parentage but of true Holstein type
• Any ‘off colour’ female otherwise eligible for Level 4

Appendix 4

• A correctly marked black and white OR red and white female by a registered Holstein sire, including the progeny of an Appendix 5 cow
• An ‘off colour’ female by a registered Holstein sire from an Appendix 4 dam

Appendix 3

• A black and white OR red and white female by a registered Holstein sire from an Appendix 4 dam
• An ‘off colour’ female by a registered Holstein sire from an Appendix 3 dam

Appendix 2

• A black and white OR red and white female by a registered Holstein sire from an Appendix 3 dam
• An ‘off colour’ female by a registered Holstein sire from an Appendix 2 dam

Appendix 1

• A black and white OR red and white female by a registered Holstein sire from an Appendix 2 dam

Purebred

• A black and white or red and white female by a registered Holstein sire from an Appendix 1 dam
