UK Exchange Applications Open
Holstein Australia and Holstein UK have again joined forces to provide a young and aspiring Holstein breed enthusiast with a trip to the UK during September and October this year.
Holstein Australia Business and Marketing Partner Adam Sawell said the exchange provides the opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of how dairy farming in the UK compares to that of Australia and bring back vital understanding to develop their own career in agriculture.
“The Holstein Australia UK Exchange Program offers a transformative opportunity for young dairy enthusiasts to expand their horizons, develop professionally, and contribute meaningfully to the dairy industry,” says Adam.
The exchange will run from 8th September, with the winner flying into Manchester, to 6th October during the UK’s busiest month for dairy events. It includes return air fares and hosted accommodation on Holstein UK members’ dairy farms throughout England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland.
The exchange winner will also take part in the UK Dairy Day industry event and National Holstein Show (10th September, Telford), the All Breeds All Britain Calf show (19th to 21st September, Staffordshire), a highlight of the UK Holstein Young Breeders year, the UK Dairy Day industry event and National Holstein Show, and The Royal Bath & West Dairy Show (1st October, Bath).
Last year’s exchange winner, Tahlia McSwain, said the exchange was an incredible learning experience, with Holstein UK members opening their homes, farms, and welcoming her into their world.
“My four-week journey through the UK was a fascinating exploration of the evolving dairy industry, blending tradition, innovation, and cutting-edge technology. From high-tech labs to generational family farms, I witnessed diverse approaches to farm management, genetics, technology, and animal welfare that define the UK’s dairy sector,” said Tahlia.
Entry is open to Australian passport holders aged 18 to 26 years who can demonstrate a tangible connection with the Australian dairy industry. To be eligible for the exchange, applicants must be able to travel between September 6th and October 8th this year.
Holstein Australia membership is not a pre-requisite to apply for the exchange but the exchange recipient, must be a Holstein Australia youth, associate or full member at time of travel.
Applications are now open and close 5pm Friday 11th July
