The Beauties from the Bush autumn-calved Holstein dispersal sale has been marked a success as it topped $11,000 last week at the Colac Selling Centre.
The Jennings family reds ruled the day with 16 red and white Holstein females averaging $4,696 and 40 black and white females trailing with $3,355 average.
The sale topper was Lot 42’s freshly calved 4 year old daughter of the 2020 Red and White Champion Cow at International Dairy Week, Rusty Red Liner Georgie-Red EX. She was purchased by Lendene Pty Ltd from Bookar, who also selected Lot 13’s Wigley High Apple-Red; a yearling descendant from the world-famous KHW Regiment Apple for $6,300.
Lot 68’s Rusty Red Moovin Irene-Red sold to Adam Nelson of Drouin for $7,750. This calf was sired by the hot new sire Moovin and is a great granddaughter of Suard-Red Jordan Irene who was named Holstein International Global Red Cow in 2019 and has produced over 100,000 litres in her lifetime, averaging 4.77 percent protein.
Wigley Awesome Jane Red sold for $6,750 to local breeder Ash Royal. She is a freshly calved descendant of Romanac Renegade Jane EX.
Bulk buyers Kevin and Helen Jones, from Foster in Gippsland gained 6 head with Lot 19’s Rusty Red Diamond Janey 4 EX90 for $5,300 along with Lot 45’s heifer Whataview Acme Daisy ET from the Avonlea Crackholm Dorinda Family for $5,750.
Well known Northern Victorian breeder Lee Prout took home 4 cows including Lot 25’s Wigley Byway Missy from the notable Missy family for $5,000.
In addition to the Jennings lots, Brendan and Yolanda McVilly from Cooriemungle averaged $3,800 for 9 registered Holstein heifers due to calve in the coming months with a top of $5,000.
The $5,000 price surpassed 12 times throughout the sale and ended with a $3,750 average.
There were 40 registered buyers in attendance along with 75 online registered bidders who attended via the web.
The sale was conducted by FMS and Charles Stewart & Co in conjunction with Elite Livestock Auctions.
