Holstein Australia announces changes to strengthen core operations and long-term sustainability
Holstein Australia is in a very different operational environment to two or three years ago, with some of its key income sources - particularly export-related revenue - reducing significantly.
As a result, the Association has carried out a review to ensure it remains fit for purpose in a changing operating environment.
To assure Holstein Australia’s long-term sustainability, significant changes are being made to how it operates. These changes include:
- A renewed focus on our core activities - Membership, Registrations and Classification - along with the community and social activities that are an important part of Holstein Australia’s fabric.
- Restructuring of roles and responsibilities, to align staff resources with current income levels and ensure continued delivery of core services efficiently and effectively.
- Increases to the cost of some services and products, as advised to members in July 2025, necessary to maintain the financial sustainability of the organisation and continue providing quality member support.
Interim CEO, John Crowther, will remain in his current role as the Association moves forward with these changes over the current financial year.
The Board’s goal is to ensure the organisation operates on at least a break-even basis, with any surplus funds retained to support future initiatives, manage income volatility, and reinvest in core activities.
Holstein Australia President Gino Pacitti said the decisions were not easy but were necessary to secure the future of the organisation.
“Holstein Australia is in a very different position from just a few years ago, and we need to adapt to ensure we remain strong and relevant. Our focus will be on the services and programs that matter most to members, and on maintaining the financial health of the organisation,” said Gino.
Members are encouraged to continue supporting the Association through participation in its key activities - registering females, classifying animals, and maintaining membership - to help ensure a strong and sustainable future for the Holstein breed and community.
