Eighteen premium Registered Holsteins will go under the hammer in Holstein Australia’s Online Showcase Sale on Wednesday 18th September, streamed live from Gippsland’s RACV Inverloch Resort, venue for the Holstein Australia AGM and National Awards Dinner which take place on the same day.
Holstein Australia CEO, Graeme Gillan, says that the sale showcases elite Australian-bred Holstein genetics at a time when recent member sales have highlighted the premium value attached to Registered Holstein cows by purchasers.
“Looking at the overall offering I think we have a great representation of what I would call best of breed cows suitable for the widest range of dairy operations.
“It’s a really diverse offering, which is what we were hoping to achieve with the Online sale, and a real credit to our members - Australian pedigrees, very deep cow families, high type cows, high genomic ranking cows, some 2019 Cow of the Year finalists and a variety of representation from sires that are ranking very highly both in Australia and internationally.
“From a purchaser perspective there is something for everyone, whatever their breeding interest.”
High type cows on offer include Robsvue Crush Penny, a young cow already classified VG85, 7 generations EX and VG; Gorbro Ramuno Tiffany-ET, 9 generations EX and VG, dams BPI +358 with 3 dams averaging PI 130, and; Avonlea Solomon Vee from a very deep cow family for type, 7 generations EX and VG.
High ranking cows for genomics include Gorbro Ramuno Tiffany-ET; Gallrae 1166 Jedi Dora 1470-ET, great-granddaughter of former number 1 BPI cow in Australia, and; Burn-Brae Flagship Noni 3-ET and Smethurst Park M Tatoo Noni 4851, both from the exceptional Noni family.
Redmaw Barcuda Jaffa 2345 P-Red is a unique offering combining Red, Polled and proven cow family.
In the running for 2019 Cow of the Year (presented at the Holstein Australia National Awards Dinner following the sale) are Lot 2, Clydevale Landslide Prague-ET from dam Clydevale Mrsam Pisa, EX91-3E, one of the great matrons of the Holstein breed in Australia, and Lot 6, Gorbro Ramuno Tiffany-ET whose grand dam is none other than the great Orchard Vale Informer Tiffany.
The internationally renowned cow family Elisa is represented by daughter of this year’s Victorian Winter Fair winner, Emu Banks Commander Elisa 8201-ET, in Lot 4, Emu Banks Supersire Elisa 9161.
