The Western District Holstein Sub-Branch held the annual Youth Show on Tuesday 23rd January 2007. Approximately 60 head of cattle under 12 months of age from 14 exhibitors were shown on a fine and mild day. After the Sub-Branch’s recent success at International Dairy Week winning the Youth Challenge, it promised to be an exciting and fun day. Our Sub-Branch invited other breeds to join in the day with some Jersey and Brown Swiss competing strongly. The younger members of the Sub-Branch were lucky to be judged and have their animals judged by international judge Dr. David Chalack, fresh from judging the Illawarra Show at International Dairy Week. David did a fantastic job. Parents, organisers and spectators along with the young members competing thoroughly enjoyed David’s comments and insightful tips and information. Results are as follows.
