Complete Dispersal Sale Spring Calving Herd

A good crowd was at Warragul Saleyards to witness the complete dispersal of
the spring calving proportion of renowned Poowong farmers Jim & Jenny
Watson’s “Sunnyside” herd. Jim Harvey of Yarragon paid the top price of
$4000.00 for a stylish first lactation ALTAPAT daughter, while Stony Creek
farmers P & C Hanrahan paid a top of $2900.00 and then paid $2800.00 three
times to average $2371.00 over their 14 purchased lots, Rick Minichiello of
Yarragon paid up to $2400.00 in his selection of 8 head and Blair & Jackson of
Stony Creek took home 12 head with a top price of $2500.00. A strong
presence of Gippsland buyers dominated the majority of bidding; however
Cobden farmer Alan Fisher of Ashbury Holsteins was able to secure 12 lots at a
top price of $2600.00. Overall 120 outstanding lots averaged $1995.00 and
grossed $239,400.00. The sale was conducted by Dairy Livestock Services. |
