Kevin George Jordan

Holstein Australia would like to acknowledge the passing of long time member, Kevin George Jordan, who was an influential figure in the Australian herd improvement industry and leading Goulburn Valley dairy farmer recognised for both his highly skilled pasture management and success as a breeder.

A Holstein Australia member for 43 years from 1958 onwards, Kevin moved from Tasmania to Victoria’s Katandra West in the 1960s. He was a leading member of the Total Performance Index (TPI), a series of farmer syndicates that imported live young bulls from the US, and right hand man to its founder, John Condon AM. He was also a leading light in the Victorian Artificial Breeders Co-operative, the forerunner of Genetics Australia.

Kevin served on the Victorian State Committee of Holstein Australia and was an active Northern Victoria Sub-Branch member. He also served as Chairman of the Victorian Herd Improvement Association, and was a United Dairy Famers of Victoria member.

Kevin passed away peacefully at the age of 84 in Shepparton, Victoria, on Sunday 8 April. He will be missed by his wife, Peggy, and nieces and nephews Cheryl, Lynn and Dwayne, Andrew and Kendra.
